Over 20 archers met at Manawatu Archery Club to shoot without sights.
This collection of archers included longbow, barebow and a few traditional style bows.
The round shot was 4 arrows at 6 targets at a distance from 15m to 30m. Target faces ranged from 2D animal faces to some novelty faces i.e. a red vertical line, a Maltese cross (only white scoring), standard FITA 122cm, small animal silhouettes.
Afterwards a discussion on how and what is required to promote and develop ‘unsighted’ archers in the lower north island. Watch this space for upcoming ‘traditional’ shoots.
